Just Do It!
I am no fan of Nike, but their slogan is a perfect title for this message. I know that pride is considered a sin, yet my heart swelled with admiration as I watched our children walking off the field after the cross-country event at Ariel (and I am also told at St Michael’s). While I was immensely proud of the effort the children put into their races, it was something else that truly stood out to me – something that is becoming more common among Lendy Park children.
As our team left the field, several of our students were seen picking up litter – not their own, but litter left behind by other schools. This is the kind of character we nurture at Lendy Park: young citizens who take responsibility and do what needs to be done without being asked.
Similarly, after the Inter-House Cross Country event, some of our pupils voluntarily helped to pack away chairs after the event. Again, at this event, one young girl even paused mid-race to pick up a fellow competitor’s lost shoe – despite being in the running for first place.
Now, imagine the future of our country when these remarkable young people take up positions of leadership!
